Introducing the BCU Lifeguards – Homepage
This is a new BCU website just for (BCU LIFEGUARDS). When you have passed your canoe safety test you will be an official BCU lifeguard so why not have a look at the website and find out what its all about and register on line for updates.
With your prerequisites in place i.e. up to date first aid certificate, minimum 2 star kayak / canoe award, CRB check, and Canoe Safety Test, you will be able to carry out an important role within the Sheffield Canoe Club, that is as coaching support and water safety cover. Please note your new qualification relates to safety/ rescue and support, it does not entitle you to coach at either the pool or river sites.
For members with existing pre-requisites nearing their expiry dates and therefore with a need to update either a coaching or lifeguard award, please contact me and I will add your details into the coaching and lifeguard register. SCC plan in the future to help individuals to stay in remit by sending out timely reminders, and providing courses where applicable. If there is any canoeing /kayaking qualification that you wish to achieve within the BCU syllabus then please inform any of the coaching staff, who will then take this request along to the next planned coach’s meeting for discussion.
The club is running courses throughout the summer to help members who wish to achieve Star Awards 1-2-3 in both kayak and canoe.
